Following the resurgence of hostilities that led to the sacking of several communities across Atyap Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf, the Chairman of the chiefdom’s Peace and Security Partnership Committee (ACPSPC), John Bala Gora, has called for an end to the killings, saying “enough is enough.”
Gora, who stated this during the monthly meeting of the committee at the Agwatyap’s palace in Zangon Kataf, lamented the alarming level of the destruction of lives and property which he said had reduced the perpetrators to the status of animals.
The chairman who challenged members of the committee to renew their commitment to the noble course of uniting the people until enduring peace is attained, also encouraged them to nip in the bud every security problem to prevent escalation.
In a remark, a member of the committee, Thabita Bako, said the killing of women, children and the aged, and the returning of many to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps was a shameful act.
She said the time had come for the perpetrators of such barbaric act to stop killing women, children and all people.
Similarly, the Chairman, Atyap Community Development Association (ACDA), Samuel Achi, lamented that the crisis in Zangon Kataf was affecting the economy of the area and called on participants at the meeting to call on the various communities to exercise the spirit of forgiveness.
