Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state, his Gombe state counterpart, Ibrahim Dankwambo, and Senate President Bukola Saraki, have hailed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for emerging the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s presidential candidate for the 2019 general elections.
In a statement signed on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, the governor described Atiku as an experienced administrator, tested politician and Nigerian who understands the problems facing the country and has the capacity to fix the challenges.
Ortom said that the credible conduct of the presidential primary election was confirmation that the PDP is a party that truly practises transparency and internal democracy which gives the people the freedom to choose those to lead them.
He further expressed confidence in the ability of the PDP presidential candidate, who is a title holder in Benue State – (Zege Mule u Tiv), to provide credible leadership for the country, if given the mandate.
The governor expressed optimism that Nigerians will vote for the rebranded and refocused PDP in next year’s elections to address the plethora of challenges confronting the country and turn around the economy and security situation which he said that the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s administration has apparently failed to handle.
Also, Governor Dankwambo, whose 2019 presidential aspirations was laid to rest few hours ago by Atiku’s victory has lauded the former vice president for emerging the PDP’s flagbearer and pledged his support to enable the party win the forthcoming presidential election in February 2019.
