PDP, YPP reject poll favouring Kwara gov

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Young Peoples Party (YPP) in Kwara State have rejected the results of a poll favouring the candidature of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the 2023 governorship election.

The poll, conducted by the ANAP Foundation, predicts that the governor will win the election while the candidates of the PDP, Alhaji Shuaib Abdullahi Yaman and Hakeem Lawal of SDP will emerge second and third respectively.

But PDP described the poll as “baseless, laughable and far from reality,” adding that it only decorated AbdulRazaq in borrowed robes.

SPONSOR AD

The party’s campaign director-general and former speaker, Prof. Ali Ahmad, queried the credibility of ANAP and its modus operandi.

He said, “It is ludicrous to know that Governor AbdulRazaq, having seen that his fleeting popularity continues to evaporate at an alarming rate, has resorted to sponsoring dubious opinion polls, to keep up appearances of remaining afloat. This feeble and belated effort is just too little, too late.

“Kwarans, who have resolved to change the governor, will not be deterred by this fictitious report from a body well known for its annual inaccurate projections.”

The YPP publicity secretary, Oyewole Oladele, said majority of Kwarans had already passed a vote of no confidence on the APC-led administration in the state.

He said the party’s governorship candidate, Alhaji Yakub Gobir, stood a chance of winning next year’s election because of his wide acceptability across the 16 local government areas of the state.
