A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe state Habu Mu’azu has predicted that unlike the presidential election that was conducted two weeks ago where the All Progressive Congress (APC) won the election with a wide margin, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will no doubt win the gubernatorial election in Gombe state.
Speaking shortly after he was accredited at Kashere polling unit in Akko local government area of Gombe state, Mu’azu said the PDP has put their house in order, and they have strategized to win the election.
He said this election was very peaceful just like that of the presidential , the atmosphere was peaceful but the turnout was poor.
He said despite the reported cases of insurgents patrolling the area a few days to the election , people still came out to cast their votes for the candidate of their choice.
“The insurgents came to Kashere, but they did not hurt anybody. They were looking for a way out and they left peacefully ,” he said. He said the low turnout has nothing to do with the insurgents coming to the area, saying that “It is our belief that people don’t take gubernatorial elections serious, like that of the presidential election.
“From what I have heard, from yesterday Friday to this morning Saturday, the PDP will no doubt win the election in Gombe state. The morale of people for the APC is very, very low, unlike the way it was some days ago”.
