The Peoples Democratic Party in Zamfara State, on Thursday, raised the alarm over plans to demolish its state headquarters by the Zamfara State Urban and Regional Planning Board (ZUREPB).
The Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Alhaji Farouk Ahmad Shattima, told newsmen that after governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the PDP’s headquarters was taken over and painted with the APC logo.

“Then we decided to relocate to another building along the bypass and they went and repainted it with APC logo overnight and we paid N2 million for that building.
“Then we came down to this and even before we rented the building for N10 million, we wrote the ZUREPB notifying them that we are hiring the edifice for office accommodation but they did not reply us for up to a month.
“When we painted the building, the ZUREPB officials came and marked it for demolition and we had already drawn the attention of our lawyers to the matter.
“ZUREPB is saying that the building is for commercial purpose whereas it is not.
“They haven’t replied to us and their officials came marking the building on Wednesday.
“We have the constitutional right to open party offices right from the ward level to national level, therefore the ZUREPB has no moral justification to stop us.
“We are talking with our lawyers and we will come up with the next line of action.
“ZUREPB can’t stop us because we have done nothing against the law that would warrant this humiliation,” Shattima said.
However, ZUREPB officials could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
