Five members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident that occurred last Monday along Sokoto-Isa road.

Daily Trust also gathered that 63 other members sustained various degrees of injuries.

The members were returning to their communities at Bargaja village in Isa local government area in a lorry after the flag-off of PDP’s presidential campaign at the Kangiwa square in Sokoto.

The lorry was said have somersaulted along the way as a result of which five members of the party died instantly just as another 14 were critically injured while 49 others sustained minor injuries.

Another source told Daily Trust that more people died on Tuesday, adding that the accident was caused by a bad road leading to their community.

The deputy Governor of the state, Maniru Muhammad Dan’iya who condoled with families of the victims described their demise as tragic and a great loss to their families, local government and the entire state.

He prayed Allah (SWA) to reward them with Jannatil Firdaus and the fortitude to bear the loss.

In a statement signed by his spokesman, Aminu Abdullahi, the deputy Governor also comforted the injured and prayed for their quick recovery.

The statement added that Dan’iya who visited some of the injured was accompanied by the State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Milgoma, some of the state executive members of the party and local government chairmen, among others.
