PDP in Taraba decries detention of Rep member, council chair

The Taraba State chapter of the PDP has decried the alleged continued detention of the member representing Ardo-Kola, Lau, Karim-Lamido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Danladi Baido, by security operatives.

The state publicity secretary of the party, Alhaji Inuwa Bakari, said the chairman of Karim-Lamido Local Government Area, Mr. Idi Mali, was still being held by security agents since Friday.

According to him, the ballot papers, which the arrested persons were found in possession, were samples printed by PDP for the purpose of voter education.

The publicity secretary denied claims by the DSS that the Reps member and the council chairman were arrested for being in possession of thumb printed INEC ballot papers for governorship and state assembly elections.

He said efforts by the Taraba government to secure the release of the arrested persons failed and no reason was given for their continued detention.

No official of DSS in the state was available for comment on the issue.
