The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced new dates for House of Assembly, National Assembly and governorship primaries ahead of the 2019 general elections.
This is to create room for aggrieved members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who have various interests to jump ship and get their expression of interest and nomination forms on the platform of the opposition party, Daily Trust learnt.
The PDP has also extended by 7 days, the sale and submission of forms implying that the new deadline would be next Tuesday.
The PDP National Organizing Secretary, Col. Austin Akobondu (rtd) who made the new dates known to newsmen in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, said September 20 has been slated for screening of National Assembly, governorship and presidential aspirants.
“On September 15, the party will pick candidates to vie for States Houses of Assembly seats while appeals arising from same earlier fixed for Monday, September 17, will now hold on Thursday, October 4, 2018.
“Congresses into the Federal Houses of Assembly will hold on Sunday, September 30, as against the earlier date of Friday, September 28. Appeals on these congresses hold on October 2, in the new timetable.
“Senatorial district congresses and appeals hold on September 28 and September 29 respectively while governorship primaries hold on September 26 with appeals slated for September 28,” the PDP said.
