PDP crisis: Why we support Gwarzo for North-West vice chair — Sugar

The battle is between the camps of former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and a former minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali.

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Kano State, Alhaji Muhammadu Abdullahi Sugar, has said they are pushing for the candidature of Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo as North West PDP zonal vice chairman because of his capacity to turn around the party.

The crisis over the vice chairmanship position of the party in the North-West has re-ignited the rivalry between the two camps of the party in Kano State. The position, Daily Trust reports, has been zoned to the state.

The battle is between the camps of former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and a former minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali.

Speaking on the clash at the zonal congress of the party, penultimate Saturday, Sugar said what the party currently needs in all the six geopolitical zones are people that have the ability and the capability to effectively restore the party’s political strength and popularity.

“What we need is to restore the confidence of Nigerians in our great party and that can only be achieved when we present people with experience, people who have at one time or the other did something good under the party for the people,” he said.

Sugar added that it is equally important to acknowledge the efforts that former vice president Atiku Abubakar has been making in ensuring that peace prevailed in Kano PDP hence the call for his intervention in ensuring that the zonal party returned to order.
