PDP clears 33 LGAs in Oyo, as APC wins in all 11 Gombe LGAs

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in all the 33 local government areas of Oyo State have won the council elections held at the weekend.

This was announced by Chairman of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Aare Isiaka Olagunju (SAN).

Reacting to the victory, the deputy national chairman (South) of the PDP, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, called on candidates of the opposition who lost at the poll to accept the outcome in good faith.

He asked them to join hands with the PDP led government for the development of the state.

Amb. Arapaja equally advised the winners to be magnanimous in victory by working hard for the realisation of the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde at the grassroots level.

Similarly, candidates of the All Progressives Congress  (APC) also emerged victorious across the 11 local government areas of Gombe State where the council elections were held on Saturday.

Disclosing this while collating and announcing the election results, the Chairman of the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission, Saidu Shehu, said only five of the 19 registered political parties participated in the election.

He said, “Out of 19 registered political parties, five parties had candidates. The parties that participated are APC, PDP,  AP, ZLP and YPP.

“APC cleared the 11 local government areas including Kaltungo and Shongom where the party won unopposed.”
