The Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Walid Jibrin, has said the party will provide a level-playing ground to all the aspirants seeking election into the national executive committee of the party.
Jibrin insisted the position of the national chairman of the party remained zoned to the South and that any aspirant from that part was free to contest if qualified.
He said the need to further stress this fact was premised upon the information that a sectional meeting of the PDP South West Board of Trustees was reported to have approved only three aspirants for the position of the national chairmanship to the detriment of others.
He said, “ I want to state clearly that the meeting in which such decision was taken was never at the instance of the National Board of Trustees and that we cannot afford to hold such meeting now as done in the South West.”
Jibrin said the BoT had the intension of holding its meeting that would bring together all the aspirants in the South to appeal for peace, unity and success of the national convention scheduled for December 9.
“In the South West, we have two BoT members contesting for the chairmanship who should never be in a meeting where such sensitive decision was taken,” he said.
