Jibrin said some members of the board had during the chairmanship contest within the party in 2017, had dealings with preferred aspirants which he said was contrary to expectations.

He announced that the meeting extended his tenure which has expired, by 5 years while a former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara who became acting secretary of the BoT following the demise of the substantive secretary, Ojo Madueke, was also confirmed and allotted 5 years to perform the functions of that office.

“We have warned some of our members moving from one place to another with our presidential aspirants to stop. We will not allow that to happen. Anyone who wants to do so should go out of the BoT. We are also delegates and we are going to vote any candidate that will be acceptable to all Nigerians at the convention,” he said.

He however, announced that the BoT had constituted a committee to interact with the various aspirants in order to have a better understanding of state of affairs for decision-making processes.

Sen. Jibrin added that another Special Committee had been set up to liaise with the Prince Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee (NWC) so that the party would be speaking with one voice.

He didn’t mention the leaders of those committees as the meeting was still in progress.
