The Presidential Committee on North East Initiative, PCNI has donated drugs and other medical consumables to the Bauchi State government to improve healthcare delivery in the state.

Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar received the items at the State Specialists hospital in Bauchi.

Speaking at the occasion, the governor commended PCNI for the donation as part of the federal government’s effort to address the challenges facing the North East due to years of insurgency and other security challenges.

“Let me use this opportunity to appreciate the collaboration between the state and Presidential Committee on North East Initiative (PCNI) for the provision of essential drugs and consumables, equipment, infrastructural development, Manpower training and outreach services to mention but few,” he said.

Governor Abubakar disclosed that his administration was committed to the improvement of health of the state citizens through carefully designed policies which had reduced mortality and morbidity among women and children in the state.

In his address, the State PCNI coordinator, Engineer Mohammed Gambo Umar said that the donation of the drugs and other medical consumables was part of various special interventions by the federal government through the PCNI to improve the lives of people of the North East.

Umar who represented head of PCNI, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (Rtd), disclosed that the organisation was carrying out interventions in various sectors across all states of the North East in order to help the people who suffered from insurgency rebuild their lives.
