Witnesses said some members of her church from the Lord’s Chosen branch in Otukpo had checked up on her to know why she did not attend the Sunday service.
It was learnt that the members raised an alarm when they discovered the woman in the pool of her own blood at her kitchen with a deep cut on her chest around the breast region, which suggested that her assailants may have stabbed her with an object which caused her death.
The witnesses further told our correspondent that the Police in Otukpo thereafter evacuated the body of the pastor’s wife and deposited same in the mortuary.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s younger brother, Adoba Mac told newsmen in Makurdi that the woman’s lifeless body was discovered when the Church members visited to know why she wasn’t in service.
Mac said, “We had a family meeting earlier. We finished the family meeting around 6:30 am yesterday (Sunday) she was rushing to go to church and I was the one who took her on my motorcycle to a junction to her house and we parted.
“Only for me to receive a call from someone who was working around her house around 3:00 pm (the area is just being developed) that I should rush down to my sister’s house.
“On getting there I saw some of her church members who I later learnt said that they did not see her in the church which is very unusual and they decided to check her at home.
“When I saw her lying down in the pool of her blood, I also discovered that she was stabbed at the topmost part of her breast.”
Mac further disclosed that the woman was alone in the building when the incident occurred, noting that her three children – the female, a student of School of Nursing in Enugu and two male, one of them a youth corp member while the other a banker in Abuja were all away from home.
He added that the deceased’s husband left for his missionary trip to Equitorial Guinea in February, this year.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Benue Command, DSP Catherine Anene, told our correspondent that she was yet to briefed on the matter.
