Pastor remanded over N4.5m visa scam in Kwara

A magistrate’s court in Ilorin, Kwara State, has ordered the remand of a 50-year-old clergy, Pastor Joel Aganna, for swindling his victim, Korede Isreal Adediran, to the tune of N4.5 million in a visa scam.

Pastor Aganna, according to the police, defrauded the complainant under the pretense that he is a pastor, ex-DSS agent and travel agent.

“He promised to help him facilitate visas to Canada, after which they negotiated on the amount to be paid. The complainant transferred the said amount to the Guaranty Trust Bank and Ecobank accounts of the defendant for the processing of two visas. But the defendant gave the complainant fake online printed visas in order to scam him,” according to the charge sheet.
