Security agents attached to the FCT taskforce on city sanitation have arrested two suspected land grabbers, Yusuf Garba Ibrahim alias Baba Khalifa and Pastor Emmanuel Ayisa, for allegedly masterminding illegal sales and extortion of money from unsuspecting victims around illegal structure and settlements in Kado and Jahi districts of Abuja.
It was gathered that illegal developments had been ongoing on the road corridor in between Kado and Jahi districts, a road reservation for a long time.
However, the combined team of the FCT taskforce, consisting of different security agencies made the arrest yesterday following intelligence reports that people were contributing money for the suspects.
Secretary, FCTA Command and Control unit, Peter Olumuji, said based on the intelligence from task team, some persons had asked owners and occupants of illegal structures to contribute money to escape the removal exercise, they (suspects) were identified, and arrest was made.

Olumuji disclosed that the FCT Commissioner of Police directed that thorough investigation be carried out before prosecution.
He added the “Prosecution will serve as lesson and deterrence to those who are still involved in defrauding people who are victims of this removal (demolition exercise) in the area. This is something the FCT Administration will never tolerate.”
