Parties, candidates urged to eschew violence

The national president of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), Mr Nathaniel Atebije, has urged political parties, their candidates in the 2023 polls with their supporters to eschew violence and seek positions peacefully. 

He also called on the electorate to make informed choices and vote for credible leaders. 

Atebije gave the advice in a speech after he was sworn in as the 25th national president of NITP at an investiture in Abuja.

He said, “While we appreciate the political class for their efforts at developing the nation over the past few years, we call on all Nigerians to make good choices of leadership in the forthcoming election who would take us to higher levels than where we are today. 

“We call on all candidates to seek positions peacefully. We call on persons who are usually used for violence to eschew such acts.

“We call on persons given the onerous task of handling the electoral process to do their work with the fear of God and fairness to humanity to allow votes to count by delivering a free and fair election.”
