‘Music is my breath, passion, the person I am meant to be’

For a 10 year old, the idea of doing music may be tender, but not for Timon Ayodeji Gabriel, who will celebrate his 10th birthday next month.

Speaking with Daily Trust YOUTHVILLE recently, Timon’s mother Mirabel, said even as a toddler, the boy would dance to good rhythms.

By the time Timon was three he was already rapping about the things around him – the food he ate, the people around him, etc. At five, Timon began writing his own songs – songs that would transfix his baby sister, Princess, mesmerize his parents, and spellbind his teachers, especially his music teachers who started seeking to mentor the lad.

Now about to clock ten, Timon has already produced his debut album that he’s poised to dazzle the world with soon.

Basically, Timon sang and rapped about everything around him, the food he eats, people around him, but especially the things that matter for a sane and healthy society. And the words flow from his mouth like mercury.

He was heard singing about the situation around him, such as COVID-19, drug abuse, and not just that, he proffered solutions to problems he rapped about.

According to Timon, “Music is my breath, passion, the person I am meant to be – that a life without music is like taking a part of me away.”

He said he could play the guitar, drums and also the piano.

His music teacher and manager, whom he called Mr. Steve, said during a talent hunt in Timon’s school, he chose to rap when others danced “That move astounded all of his teachers. Upon giving him that chance to rap, Timon impressed so much that I took interest in the lad and contacted his mother, asking her to allow me to be a mentor to Timon. Ever since then, Timon has been more and more of a sensation,” Steve said.

For Timon, he believed he was using his talent to give hope to the world and hoped that his songs and lifestyle would give hope to the youths to lead better lives.

Timon said he was inspired by the likes of Kanye West because he cares about children, Wizkid because he’s a kind person and obedient to his mother, loves people, is humble and trying to do his best. Davido is also on his inspiration list because of his passion.
