Members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) in Borno State, have elected new executives who will run its affairs at the Borno State House of Assembly.
Information officer at the state assembly, Hajiya Kaltume Ja’afar, in a statement said at the end of a peacefully conducted election, Shettima Garba, Babakura Maina and Mohammed Ummate emerged as chairman, vice chairman and secretary respectively, while Yakubu Gambo, Hadiza B. Deribe, Bulama Ashemi and Ali Imran Usman were assistant secretary, treasurer, financial secretary and welfare secretary respectively.
Others are: Musa Mohammed Shani, social secretary; Adamu Umaru Langa, publicity secretary; Alhaji Bukar Kullima, internal auditor; Yagana Shettima, legal adviser and Mohammed S. Kullima, ex-officio.
The statement described the delegates conference as the first of its kind and was witnessed by present and past labour leaders and representatives from the national headquarters of the association.
The statement also quoted the newly elected chairman of the PASAN in the state, Shettima Garba, as saying that he would work with everyone in the legislature to enhance staff welfare and pursue the implementation of the legislative salary structure.
