The FCT Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), Alhaji Usman Abubakar, has appealed to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to intervene in the ongoing strike by primary school teachers in the territory.
City & Crime earlier reported that the standing committee of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in the FCT under the leadership of Comrade Mohammed Abdullahi Shafas directed primary school teachers to resume an earlier strike on January 15, 2024, over non-payment of their 25 months minimum wage arrears and other allowances by the six area councils of the FCT.
Addressing newsmen on Saturday, Alhaji Usman said the association was seriously worried by the strike, which he noted would have adverse effects on the pupils.

He added that parents were deeply in fear over the strike because of the worsening insecurity situation across the FCT, saying children were forced to move about hawking all sorts of items.
