Professor Ali Isa Pantami, Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, led the Federal Government’s delegation to Kano to console the family of a popular Islamic cleric, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim (BUK), on Saturday.
Daily Trust had reported how the cleric aged 82 died at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), Kano, after a brief illness.

Kano literarily stood still when the remains of the respected scholar were laid to rest at the Dandolo Cemetery in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano Metropolis.
Thousands of Muslims from within and outside Kano attended the funeral and burial prayers led by the Chief Imam of Bayero University Kano (BUK), Sheikh Abubakar Jibril.
The Federal Government delegation, which also had Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information, arrived at the mosque of the late Islamic cleric few minutes after 4pm and were received by members of his family and his associates.
Introducing the delegation, presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, who is part of the team, said they were sent by President Muhammadu Buhari to condole with the family and the Kano people in general.
The leader of the delegation, Pantami, said the death of the respected scholar was a great loss to the nation, adding that he has left a huge vacuum.
He prayed to Allah to grant him Jannah and give the family, his students and associates the fortitude to bear the loss.
Speaking on behalf of the associates of the late scholar, the chief Imam of BUK mosque, Dr Abubakar Jibrin, thanked the president and the delegation for the visit.
