A tanker fully loaded with 44,000 litres of diesel (AGO) exploded Saturday along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
It was learnt that one of the tyres of the tanker caught fire before the whole tanker later went up in flames.

The incident happened at the Otedola bridge outward Lagos around 5:30 p.m.
Eyewitness account revealed that the tanker driver was not aware that the tyre had caught fire until the people around called his attention to it.
Emergency officials including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Fire Service, among others, battled to put out the fire.
It was learnt that the tanker driver instead of stopping was trying to reverse and in the process spilled the content.
The driver however escaped as the tanker went up in flame.
It was learnt that another lorry conveying goods was caught in the fire.
The haulage lorry driver simply identified as Mr. Uche said the lorry belongs to the River State Government, according to NEMA account .
The lorry was hit by the tanker while moving back on speed while another small car conveying a family of six was also hit but they all escaped unhurt.
According to the NEMA Lagos Territorial Office Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye., no casualty or injury was sustained by anyone
Also speaking, the Director-General of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyitolu said the extent of property damaged is still being determined.
