NAHCO appoints Ode as Executive Director

Nigerian Aviation Handling Company PLC, (nahcoaviance), has appointed Mrs. Folashade Ode as Executive Director, Corporate, Legal Services and Company Secretary.

The appointment was announced just as the retirement of Mr. Bolaji Balogun and Arc Usman Arabi Bello from the board of the Company took effect. Ode, whose appointment takes immediate effect, would execute her new office with the former role of Company Secretary.

The new ED is a graduate of Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos, where she obtained her LL.B (HONS) and an MBA in international business. She is a member of many professional bodies , including the Nigeria Bar Association, International Bar

Association and Nigeria Institute of Management. Ode is a highly motivated and hardworking solicitor with over twenty-five years cognate experience incorporate and commercial law and has exhibited unparalleled professionalism in the course of

her career. She has a diploma in Insurance, a Law degree from the Lagos State University (class of 1990) and was called to the bar in 1991, She obtained her MBA (International Business) in 2005 from the Lagos State University. Vodacom appoints Kolade as MD Nigeria operation

Vodacom Business Nigeria has announced the appointment of Lanre Kolade as its Managing Director and the appointment takes effect from April 1, 2016.

Kolade succeeds Guy Clarke who after eight years at the helm returns to South Africa to take up the role of Managing Director, Vodacom Business Africa.

Lanre has been in the Telecoms industry for over 19 years and recently served as the Managing Director of Vodacom Business responsible for business growth in West, East and parts of Southern Africa excluding South Africa, Nigeria and Zambia.

Lanre is a graduate from Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Witwatersrand, South Africa and the London Business School, UK.

The Chairman of Vodacom Business Nigeria, Vuyani Jarana welcomed Lanre’s appointment thus: “Lanre, has been a senior leader and key component of the succession management plan; he is a perfect choice to lead the company at a time when the Nigerian economy, like most African economies, is undergoing major difficulties”.

Jarana affirmed Vodacom Business Nigeria’s confidence in Lanre’s ability to lead the company, using his extensive experience and capacity to unlock further opportunities despite the difficult economic times.

Access Bank appoints Mr. Abba Mamman Tor Habib as a Non-Executive Director

Access Bank has announced the appointment of Mr. Abba Mamman Tor Habib, as Non-Executive Director.

Mr. Habib is a thorough bred banking professional with 20 years banking experience 15 of which were spent with Guaranty Trust Bank Plc where he voluntarily retired in 2008 as an Executive Director. His experience in Guaranty Trust Bank spanned across Corporate Banking and Risk Management. Mr. Habib has since 2008 been the Managing Director of Gremcoh Services Limited, his family owned agriculture and real estate enterprise.

He holds a First Class Bachelor of Science degree in Agric Economics from University of Maiduguri (1986) and Master of Science in Banking and Finance from Bayero University Kano (1997).

Mr Habib has attended several Executive Development programmes in leading institutions including African Development Bank, Harvard, IMD, D.C Gardner London and Insead.

His appointment is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Bank’s shareholders, Access Bank said in a statement.

Commenting on the appointment, Mrs. Mosun Belo-Olusoga the Chairman of Access Bank said: “We are very delighted to welcome Abba on the Board of Access Bank. He brings on board a very rich professional and board level experience relevant to our Bank and our industry. These skills will no doubt support our Bank’s quest to become the World’s Most Respected African Bank.”

Parliamentary staff elect new council in Borno

Members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) in Borno

State, have elected new executives who would run the affairs of the association at the Borno State House of Assembly.

Information Officer at the State Assembly, Hajiya Kaltume Ja’afar, in a statement said at the end of a peacefully conducted election, Shettima Garba, Babakura Maina and Mohammed Ummate emerged as Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary respectively while Yakubu Gambo, Hadiza B. Deribe, Bulama Ashemi and Ali Imran Usman as Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary and Welfare Secretary respectively.

Others are: Musa Mohammed Shani, Social Secretary; Adamu Umaru Langa,

Publicity Secretary; Alhaji Bukar Kullima, Internal Auditor; Yagana Shettima, Legal Adviser and Mohammed S. Kullima, Ex-Officio.

The statement described the delegate conference as the first of its kind and was witnessed by present and past labour leaders, representatives from the National headquarters of PASAN.

The statement also quoted the newly elected chairman of the PASAN in the state, Shettima Garba as saying he would work with every one in the legislature to enhance staff welfare and pursue the implementation of the legislative salary structure.

Ali is Kebbi youth empowerment co-coordinator

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has appointed Usman Buhari Ali,35, as the State coordinator of the Youth Empowerment and Social Support Operation(YESSO).

He will be responsible for designing and coordinating intervention programmes towards providing employment opportunities, skills acquisition, social services, and

strengthening social safety net system in the State.

Mallam Usman holds a Masters Degree in Agric Econs with initial degree in Agric

Econs from ATBU Bauchi.

He is a Chartered Project Manager, Chartered Economist and an International

Volunteer with membership in over 10 professional bodies and associations.

Until his appointment, he was the Director General of Atiku Vision Kebbi State and

Programme Manager/CEO of an NGO – Bright Capacity Initiatives for Community

Enhancement.
