Absence of govs, party officials stalls APC meeting in Katsina

From Habibu Umar Aminu, Katsina

The absence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, senators, House of Representatives members and other party officials has forced the cancellation of a two-day legislative parley organised by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) in Katsina.

The poorly attended event themed: “Setting Legislative Agenda for the Implementation of APC Manifesto”, was called-off for another day in order to attract larger attendance.

Briefing newsmen after the cancelation, the chairman of the organising committee and secretary to the Katsina State Government, Mustapha Inuwa, said most of the expected participants travelled for Hajj, adding that a meeting of governors with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) officials has coincided with the commencement of the programme.

In his acceptance speech, Ozigi said he will ensure transformation of all sectors of the state’s economy through ‘bottom-top and participatory’ approach to governance.

Earlier, Simeon Ojonuba, the chairman of the party in the state, said PPA was out to correct all the ‘anomalies’ in the state, calling on the Kogi electorates to vote massively for the party come November 21.

Dickson will win Bayelsa governorship-Senator

By Muideen Olaniyi

The senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Foster Ogola, has expressed his optimism that the incumbent Bayelsa State Governor Seriaki Dickson will win the December 2015 governorship election in the state.

Ogola, who spoke in Abuja, said that Dickson has transformed Bayelsa State into a modern city.

He said the governor would use the next four years to consolidate on what he had achieved, if re-elected.

He, therefore, implored the people of Bayelsa and Nigerians to ignore the people he called ‘expired politicians’ who had been misinforming them on the true state of affairs in his home state.
