Media consultant to security sector resigns

…berates Presidential investigative committee

By Ronald Mutum

The Media consultant to the Forum of Spokespersons of Security and Response Agencies (FOSSRA) Yushau Shuiab has resigned his appointment.

Shuiab’s company Image Merchants was employed by the Office of the National Security Adviser and over the last three years provided a variety of public relations crisis management for the security sector.

Image Merchants had distributed newsletters to media outlets on behalf of security and response agencies through the public relations portal PR-Nigeria.

In a statement yesterday PR-Nigeria said Shuaib who was engaged by former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki had also the core mandate of re-positioning the agencies for desired public perception and changing the negative narratives regarding the war against terror.

Shuiab explained that he resigned the appointment because of a recent misleading report by Presidential committee investigating arms procurement under the Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA) for unjustly accusing almost all institutions and individuals that served the office without fair hearing.

He queried the rationale behind empowering a Panel of Procurement of Arms that is composed of retired and serving military officers to be saddled with probing contracts and services that have nothing to do with arms and ammunition.

He also accused the committee of misleading the President with its biased report that creates unnecessary anxiety in the polity.

Shuaib advised President Muhammadu Buhari to be wary of those who destroy others as a means of venting their anger over their past frustrations or exerting revenge against their perceived enemies or rivalries while in the service.
