The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) said in Yobe State yesterday that it had commenced training of 50 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in commercial farming in Damaturu.

The beneficiaries are undergoing training in poultry, crop farming and processing, rural handicraft development skills and aquaculture

The Yobe State Coordinator of NDE, Alhaji Iliyasu Ahmed said while flagging off the programme at Pompomari IDPs camp in Damaturu, that the training was aimed at building capacity and boosting economic empowerment of IDPs in the state.

Ahmed said that the participants would learn and identify viable opportunities in the agricultural value chain and become self-reliant. “The beneficiaries would have more relief to invest theoretically and practically after returning to their ancestral homes and farmlands,” he said.
