Police in Ogun State have arrested an alleged notorious kidnap kingpin, Usman Hassan, who fled Oyo State after killing one of his victims.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the arrest to journalists in Abeokuta on Monday.

According to the police, the suspect was arrested at his hideout in Imala, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the state.
Oyeyemi disclosed that the suspect and his gang members were alleged to have been responsible for the kidnapping of a farmer in Solalu village, Oyo State.
He said the suspect subsequently killed the farmer after collecting a ransom and fled to Ogun State to hibernate.
The police spokesman added that “on getting to Ogun State, the suspect started recruiting other Fulani men to form another kidnap gang in the state.
“Detectives of the Ogun State police command got information about his activity from those Fulani he had tried to recruit.
“On interrogation, he confessed that he conspired with his biological brother one Tahiru Usman and others to kidnap their victim in Akinyele area of Ibadan and that they decided to kill the man when they discovered that he could identify them after collecting ransom.”
The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police, Edward A. Ajogun, had directed that the suspect be transferred to the Anti-kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for onward transfer to Oyo State Command where he will be prosecuted.
