The Oyo/Ogbomoso road has unarguably become a death trap due to its present state. Some time ago, the roadsides/shoulders were being sand filled but it was abandoned.

The heaps of sand on both sides of the road from Oyo to Ogbomoso constitute impediment to both vehicular and human movements. In fact, the heaps of sand have caused motor accidents on the road.

We have complained severally on the deplorable condition of the road, we have appealed to the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and Federal Ministry of Works and Housing(FMWH) for its repair.

Unfortunately, when a poor man blows an alarm, he receives poor response. No concrete action has been taken and the poor state of the road has caused the untimely deaths of many users of the road, the latest were a couple who were teachers with Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (Oyo SUBEB). Mr and Mrs John and Hannah Oyeniran were going to their schools on Friday, September 30, 2022 when an articulated vehicle ran over them on their motorcycle. The driver of the long trailer was trying to meander through gorges on the Alaigbo river, Alagbayun via Obada/Odooba.

The couple had lost their 300 level LAUTECH son two years earlier. Their two remaining children – a 200 level KWASU male student and his SSS3 sister have suddenly become orphans due to no fault of theirs.

It is on this premise that we strongly beseech the federal government to rehabilitate the Oyo/Ogbomoso road because nobody knows who the next victims could be.
