Oyo guber: Serving Rep member, PDP supporter killed  in Ibadan

A serving member  of the House of Representatives, representing Lagelu/ Akinyele federal constituency, Hon. Temitope Olatoye (a.k.a. Sugar) was reportedly shot dead by suspected political thugs in Lagelu area of Ibadan on Saturday evening.

He was immediately  rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of the University College Hospital, following the bullet wounds he suffered in the head.

He was said to be coming from his village where he had gone to exercise his franchise, when the assailant ambushed and shot him.

According to an eyewitness, Olatoye was hurriedly taken from the attack spot by his supporters and taken to the Accident and Emergency ward of the University College Hospital.

The UCH public relations officer, Mr. Toye Akinrinlola confirmed to reporters that the lawmaker was moved to the intensive care, where doctors were battling to save his life.

A source in the hospital confirmed to our correspondent that Olatoye eventually gave up the ghost around 7:45pm.

A close aide of the lawmaker (names withheld) had told our correspondents that some suspected political thugs of a rival politician in the constituency carried out the attack.

Olatoye, who won the 2015 election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, lost election to the Senate in Oyo Central senatorial district penultimate Saturday on the platform of the Action Democratic Party (ADC).

Similarly, a supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party, simply identified as Mudasiru was also shot dead by a police officer in Ile titun area of Ibadan Southeast local government.

Mudasiru, was said to be jubilating over the victory of his party, when a trigger happy officer fired shot which hit the boy from the back and ruptured his intestine.

The police Public relations officer, Mr. Lawrence Fadeyi confirmed the two incident to reporters in Ibadan.

He said: “Yes, both incidents are true but kindly give us more time, to come up with a detailed analysis of what really happened,” Fadeyi said.
