Oyo govt health mission has touched 1.5m lives, says Ajimobi

The Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, on Monday said his administration’s Free Health Mission has in the last six and a half years treated more than 1.5 million people free of charge for various medical challenges.

Ajimobi disclosed this while receiving a delegation of the United Kingdom-based Jesus Household Healthcare Mission (JHHM).

The governor, commending the medical team for visiting Nigeria to deliver healthcare free of charge, said, “We started our own free medical mission about six and a half years ago. We have gone round, doing it every quarter, attending to many ailments and other medical challenges.

“And, similarly, through the help of my wife, we have also been able to screen close to 18,000 people for cancer check, treatment and so on.”

He pointed out that for the period of five days that the JHHM team would be in the state, an average of 500 people in each of the five local governments visited would be treated.

This feat, he said, would be a great contribution to the socio-economic development of Oyo State.
