A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Chief Adebayo Adelabu has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Accord Party, after Ayodele Oyajide withdrew his candidature.
Adelabu, a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), defected to the Accord party after he failed to secure the APC ticket to contest the Oyo governorship election.

Speaking at a congress to affirm his candidature in Ibadan yesterday, Adelabu said he was confident that the party would win all the elective offices in the forthcoming general elections in 2023.
Ayodele Oyajide said he withdrew his candidature for Adebayo Adelabu because he discovered that the former APC governorship aspirant has more acceptability than him.
The state chairman of the party, Ojo Akolade, urged the people of the state to remain calm, saying Adelabu won’t betray their trust.
