Despite the order by Justice Ladiran Akintola of an Oyo State High Court, Ibadan to maintain the status quo on the impeachment of the deputy governor of the state, Rauf Olaniyan, the State House of Assembly on Wednesday directed the chief judge of the state to set up a panel to investigate the allegation of gross misconduct against the state’s No 2 citizen.

The resolution followed the adoption of a motion jointly moved by the majority leader, Sanjo Onaolapo (Ogbomoso South) and Akintunde Olajide (Lagelu), on Wednesday, during plenary on Wednesday.

The house directed the panel to report its findings within three months of its appointment.

Daily Trust recalls that the impeachment notice was filed by the House of Assembly after the deputy governor, Rauf Olaniyan, dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Meanwhile, Justice Ladiran Akintola has fixed July 26 for delivering judgement on a matter brought before it by Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan.
