No fewer than 351 people were killed in road accidents in Oyo State in the last nine months, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Williams Adebowale, has said.
The commissioner, who reeled out the statistics to journalists on Wednesday, said major causes of the accidents were speeding, reckless driving, driving against traffic, burst tyres and brake failure.

He said 30 people were killed in 51 accidents in January; 32 in 68 cases in February, 49 in 67 cases in March, 37 in 58 cases in April and 48 in 75 cases in May.
The CP further said the state recorded 35 deaths in 59 accidents in June, 52 from 55 in July, and 62 in 84 cases from August to September.
