The National Reconciliation Committee established by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has reconciled the two factions within the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, chairman of the committee, announced this achievement at the party headquarters on Tuesday following a meeting with NWC members.
Factions emerged within the NWC after members loyal to acting Chairman Umar Damagum suspended the National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba and National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN). In response, Ologunagba’s camp suspended Damagum and National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, naming Ahmed Yayari Muhammed as their acting chairman.
After a meeting lasting over four hours, Oyinlola emerged alongside Damagum, declaring that their differences had been resolved.

However, he refrained from commenting on whether the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday would proceed, stating that this was outside the purview of his reconciliation committee.
“The outcome of today’s meeting is that, to the glory of God, we have resolved the differences that have been causing our party some headache within the National Working Committee,” Oyinlola said.
