Egbemode said Governor Oyetola was deeply disturbed over the tragic incident and the riot and disruption that followed it.

Remi was in the company of his friends driving along East Bypass in Osogbo in a car with registration number KUJ-553LY Abuja when the JTF team saw them, suspected them to be Yahoo Boys, and chased them in a red branded Hilux security van.

The car hit an electric pole and Remi died instantly while the other two occupants of the car sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital. The incident led to a riot in Osogbo as a mob embarked on a protest to the government house at Oke-Fia.

The governor appealed to the sympathisers, families of the deceased and the injured not to take matters into their hands by hurting more people or destroying properties.

“We hereby call on the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police to launch a comprehensive investigation into this tragedy,” Egbemode said.

He said: “The tragic event that reportedly led to the death of one person on Tuesday evening was both sad and shocking and Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has ordered a full investigation into the circumstances that led to it all.”
