The traditional ruler of Igbajo, an ancient town in Osun State, Oba Olufemi Fashade, has died at the age of 81 after 30 years on the throne.
The Owa-in-council on Tuesday confirmed the death of the Igbajo monarch.
The traditional ruler, who ascended the throne in 1990, was a retired soldier. He died after a brief illness.
The Asiwaju of Igbajoland, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, said rites of passage had already commenced for the departed monarch.
The State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, said the Oba Fashade would be remembered for his legacies.
The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ismail Omipidan, said Oyetola commiserated with the immediate family of the monarch and the people of Igbajo town in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of the state.
The governor described Oba Fashade as a great and development-oriented leader, noting that for three decades, he provided exceptional leadership, promoted the development of Igbajo and fostered peace and unity among his subjects.
