Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was Sunday sworn in as the new governor of Ekiti State.
The governor and his deputy, Mrs Monisade Afuye, both took the oath of office and allegiance, supervised by the Ekiti State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice John Adeyeye.

The ceremony was held at Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, Iyin road, in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, to the admiration of many sons and daughters, including lawmakers, political supporters, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and diplomats.
The occasion was attended by the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who represented President Muhammadu Buhari, governors of Lagos, Ondo, Ogun, Edo, Plateau, Jigawa, Kebbi, as well as deputy governors of Osun and Borno.
Others were Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mr Ayo Fayose, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, and Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, among others.
Governor Oyebanji, in his speech after the inauguration, said he would prioritise the completion of strategic infrastructure projects in the knowledge economy, transportation, agriculture and power.
Tinubu, who spoke on behalf of President Buhari, congratulated Ekiti people for voting for the APC.
He called on the people to get ready to use their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) to further support the APC in elections coming up next year.
Tinubu said: “They would come to you in the name of Labour Party, they would come to you in the name of Atiku, tell them that you don’t know them, but tell them, it is only Asiwaju Bola Tinubu that you know.”
The APC presidential candidate, who thanked the people of the state, said: “We will take care of you and your children.”
Meanwhile, the Ekiti State House of Assembly has felicitated with the new governor on the occasion of his swearing-in ceremony.
The assembly in a statement by the Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Publicity, Hon. Yemisi Ayokunle, expressed confidence that Ekiti would benefit immensely from the wealth of experience of the new governor.
The statement also congratulated Dr Kayode Fayemi for his administration’s efforts at not only restoring the core values of Ekiti but also finishing well through inauguration of several legacy projects that had showcased the state to the outside world.
