A former Vice President, Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), Mr Yemi Owoseni, has donated brand-new tennis equipment to the Ekiti State Sports Council.

The equipment which was handed over to the Commissioner for Finance, Mr Akin Oyebode and the General Manager, Ekiti State Sports Council, Mr Kindle Adeyemi, are said to be of high quality.

Receiving the tennis items at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti, Mr Adeyemi described the donor as a rare philanthropist whose contributions to the development of tennis and sports, in general, cannot be overemphasised.

Adeyemi, therefore, called on well-meaning citizens of Ekiti State, entrepreneurs, political class, and those in the Diaspora to emulate the kind gesture of the former Ekiti State sports ministry’s Permanent Secretary, who has not relented in his quest to develop sports even in retirement.

“Government can’t solely develop sports, hence the need for the private sector to partner with the government to empower the youths through sports.

“The equipment will further encourage the current tennis coach in Ekiti State, Wumi Ogunsakin, to keep up the good work that has made Ekiti the hub of young tennis stars in Nigeria,” said Adeyemi

On his part, the donor, Owoseni commended the impressive performances of young Ekiti tennis players in national and international tennis championships.

He added that Ekiti State has become a force to reckon with in the game of tennis.
