Owa Model Primary School Boji-Boji Owa and Ogedegbe Primary School Warri will battle in the finals of the 2nd edition of Zenith Bank/ Delta Headmasters’ Cup scheduled for today at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
To reach the finals, the representative of Ika North-East Local Government Area, Owa Model Primary School defeated Destiny Group of Schools, Ughelli 5-4 on penalties after full time score stood at 0-0 while Ogedegbe Primary School, Warri defeated Ogidi Primary School 5-2 in a highly entertaining encounter.
Similarly, the third place match which will start at 9am as a prelude to the grand finale will feature Destiny Group of Schools, Ughelli and Ogidi Primary School, Patani.
Speaking after the semi-final matches, the Delta State Commissioner for Primary Education, Sunday Onoriode, said the encounters were thrilling and entertaining.
Onoriode who congratulated the two finalists also lauded the Zenith Bank PLC for giving the Government financial support to host the grassroots football competition.
An excited Onoriode also said he was impressed with the turn out at the 2023 edition of the competition.
It is expected that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, other top government functionaries and some representatives of the sponsor would attend the finals.
Meanwhile, a giant trophy and other attractive prizes await the winner of the grassroots football competition.
