Over 6,000 people receive cash grants in Katsina

No fewer than 6,000 individuals have received N20,000 each as cash grants in Katsina as part of the federal government’s effort in alleviating poverty among the poor and vulnerable groups in the country.

Similarly, more than 1,000 households in the state have benefitted from food and non-food items as federal government’s relief intervention to the victims of flooding in the state.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq, disclosed this in Mazoji ward of Daura, while flagging-off the distribution of the interventions.

Another 500 individuals also benefitted from free medical outreach, where different eye problems were treated and free drugs and other valuable items, such as eye glasses, were given to the benefitting patients.

The minister said the federal government in collaboration with state governments, was conducting needs assessments with regards to the flood disaster that rocked many states of the federation, with the view to supporting the victims.
