More than 500 Nigerians have been treated of assorted eye ailments in Cross River State for free.
The free medical exercise was conducted by the ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in collaboration with a group called; Vision Server.
They targeted 2000 persons living with different eye challenges or related illnesses.
The exercise was held at Nko community in Yakurr LGA of the state.
Director of community development and education in the ministry, Mrs Lauren Braids, explained that they conduct such exercise annually across the Niger Delta region.
Braids represented the permanent secretary of the ministry, Aminu Bisalla at the event.
She disclosed that the ministry also conduct free medical exercises for other ailments, including diabetes, typhoid, malaria, HIV/AIDs etc amongst the people.
Head of the medical team, Dr Karmal Urmar said, out of the 500 they conducted eye surgeries for 100, attended to 300 with HIV issues and 100 for other ailments.
Before now, he said they had attended to about 3000 persons with health challenges.
