A total of 303 individuals suspected of armed robbery have been arrested following raids on criminal hotspots in different parts of Lagos metropolis.
The crackdown was prompted by public concerns about a recent surge in criminal activities in specific areas of the state, according to Benjamin Hundeyin, police spokesman in Lagos.
Hundeyin, in a statement on Monday, said the suspects were arrested over the weekend and would be prosecuted after a careful screening process.
He quoted the Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, as instructing all area commanders and DPOs, especially in identified troubled spots, to intensify security measures and increase neighbourhood and foot patrols within their jurisdictions.

Hundeyin said the police commissioner gave the charge during an early morning meeting with all area/squadron/tactical commanders and DPOs on Monday.
He noted that the commissioner warned of strict consequences for any officer whose area experienced such criminal incidents again, emphasising the commitment of the police force to eradicate crime and ensure a safer public environment.
