At least 200 structures and electric poles have been damaged by rainstorm in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State recently.
Arewa Trust Weekly gathered that structures damaged include the council’s secretariat, Faskari Comprehensive Health Centre, three secondary schools, Water Board’s office and a police station.
At its plenary, the Katsina State House of Assembly called on the state government and other relief agencies to assist the people.
In a motion of urgent public importance, the member representing Faskari Constituency, Alhaji Shehu Dalhatu-Tafoki, also called on the state government to direct the massive planting of trees in the area as a measure to prevent the recurrence of such disaster.
Dalhatu-Tafoki, who is also the Deputy Speaker, called on the assembly to direct the House Committee on Environment to draw the attention of the national and state emergency agencies to the issue.
After deliberations, the lawmakers unanimously adopted the motion and called on the state and local governments to provide relief materials to the people.
