The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) announced that a significant number of passports remain uncollected nationwide.

Comptroller-General Kemi Nandap said there were 107,646 produced passports waiting to be picked up.

The NIS appealed to applicants to visit their nearest passport issuing centres to collect their passports.

The agency, however, acknowledged difficulty in reaching some applicants, and urged everyone to provide accurate contact information during the online application process.

To improve collection rates, all passport offices in Lagos will now be open on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm solely for passport collection.

“We encourage those with ready passports to take advantage of this extended service,” Nandap said.
