Over 1,000 students between ages 5-15 years from various private and public schools took part in the second edition of the Lagos Kids Mini-marathon held at the weekend.
The marathon, according to the organisers, was founded to encourage all-round wellness for Nigerian kids.
The mini-marathon, which was held at the pitch of St. Saviour’s School, Ikoyi, witnessed nearly 2,000 participants from about 50 schools, including more than 500 adults and 300 volunteers comprising of students, the management and staff of St. Saviours School, Ikoyi and AISEN Schools, among others.
Tagged “Active Kids Rock”, participating students in this year’s edition were treated to exciting aerobics session and a fascinating health workshop before the competition kicked off.
Gbenle Similoluwa and Dara Goodluck clinched the 1st prize of N100,000 each, while Toheeb Muritala and Ibukun Agbede won the 2nd Prize of N50,000 each.
Also, Akodenu Joleme and Tofunmi Olojede won the 3rd prize of N25,000 each – all in the male and female race categories respectively, courtesy of MTN Nigeria.
Master Similoluwa also went home with the 5 Kilometres run trophy for the male category as he did in the first edition in 2017.
The event, which brought people from all walks of life together, was sponsored by the St. Saviour’s School Endowment Fund with the support of MTN Nigeria.
