Over 1000 Ijora residents get free malaria treatment

Over 1000 residents of Ijora-Oloye area of Lagos who were affected with malaria attack have been offered free medical treatment. 

Another set of 200 residents of the area were also given free eye and HIV test by a medical team from the Western Naval Command. Those who had eye problem were also given free eye glasses to aid their sight.

The event was organized by the Nigerian Navy to mark the 61 anniversary of the Nigerian Navy.

The free medicare also included hypertension screening and sugar level while over 100 children were also dewormed.

Residents of the area who benefited from the free treatment, said that they would forever remain grateful to the navy, which had deemed it necessary to also offer them free medical advice about their health status.

The host community ruler, Oba Abdulfatai Aromire, the Ojora of Ijoraland appreciated the navy for the gesture brought to his community.

“I am impressed and grateful for what the navy has brought to my community and I hope other private companies will learn from this. 

“Not only this, the navy has shown a high level of civil military relations with what it is doing presently,” he said.

He urged his community residents to take good advantage of the medical outreach and use every drug that has been administered to them by the naval doctors.
