….. Group urges artiste to step aside

The #OurMumuDonDo movement has recommended that Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy step aside as a convener and a trustee of the movement over his confession that the spokesman of President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organsiation, Festus Keyamo, SAN paid him in ‘nine figures’ to release the diss song, ‘Another guy man’ against Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP in the 2019 elections.

In a statement issued at the end of an emergency meeting in Abuja on Friday, the group said the decision was taken to save the movement from public ridicule following Charly Boy’s public avowal to have engaged in amoral pecuniary dealings with the spokesperson of General Muhammadu Buhari, Mr. Festus Keyamo, whom the OurMumuDonDo Movement has been publicly and completely critical of.

“That we have come to the doleful conclusion that you step aside as a Trustee of the Foundation and as the Convener of the OurMumuDonDo Movement within 24hours starting from the moment you receive this letter today, 22 March 2019. Failure to comply with this recommendation shall leave us with no other option but to ask members of the public to cease any further dealing and interface with you, and we shall not hesitate to take all necessary lawful steps to ventilate our remonstrance and ensure that the credibility of this Foundation is protected,” the movement noted in the statement signed by its National Secretary, Adebayo Raphael.

Meanwhile Keyamo, SAN, has reacted to the confession by Charly Boy that he was paid in ‘nine figures’ to release the diss song, ‘Another guy man’.

In an exclusive interview with Daily Trust, Keyamo denied the allegation, stressing that it is unimaginable that he will pay for a song that insulted the All Progressives Congress, APC, the party that sponsored Buhari for the 2019 presidential election.

“Anybody who thinks that I would pay one naira for a song that also abuses APC, you know the song also abuses APC? It says both APC and PDP are the same. Anybody who thinks that I would pay one naira for that kind of song, the person should go and examine his head,” he said.

The senior lawyer said that it was impossible for him to have raised the money as his he ran his office with limited budget during the campaign.

Keyamo added that entertainers are known to parade phantom figures and flashy cars as a way of raising their stocks in the industry, insinuating that Charly Boy only wanted Adeyanju to become jealous.

“When friends are quarreling, it’s obvious that one wants to make the other green with envy ‘that you are leaving me but I am making money’, ‘I have the capacity to make money ‘that is obviously what is going on. And you know all over the world that entertainers are known for two or three things.

“One, they claim phantom figures for their engagement in order to raise their stock, that is what entertainers are known for all over the world. They parade flashy cars, sometimes that are borrowed, sometimes they are not their own,” he added.

He pleaded that Charly Boy and Adeyanju should not drag him into their quarrel.

Charly Boy admitted in an interview that Keyamo paid ‘heavy money’ to use his diss song against Atiku, the main challenger of President Buhari in the 2019 elections.

The co-convener of #OurMumuDonDo Movement, Deji Adeyanju, who resigned from the movement on Wednesday, had accused Charly Boy of collecting money from the presidency during his (Deji) stay at Kano Central Prison.

The song, ‘Another Guy Man,’ was posted to YouTube on January 25. It has 6,693 views and 44 comments on Charly Boy’s channel as at Friday afternoon.

“When Keyamo came to discuss Deji’s matter, he heard my new song that I was working on…where I was dissing Atiku,” Charly Boy said in the interview.

“I don’t care. But if you want to use my work, you pay for it.”

“Of course, he paid for it. And they paid heavy money.”

When asked how much the money was, Charly Boy admitted that the money was in “nine figures” mentioning no specific amount.
Nine figures will represent any amount from 100 million (100,000,000) to nine hundred and ninety-nine million, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine (999,999,999). A member of the group claimed that Charly Boy was paid N100,000,000.

Adeyanju on Wednesday claimed that he rejected offers of about $2 million made to him by the agents of the Nigerian government to quit opposing the government.

“Not that we haven’t been offered money to compromise as well. Since 2017 till date, I have been offered over $2million to compromise but I refused. If I had, they wouldn’t have sent me to Kano Central Prison or tried to charge me for terrorism & other crimes,” he posted on Twitter.

Adeyanju was arrested on December 13, 2018 and spent 78 days behind bars at the Kano Central Prison on murder charge – the same charge he was acquitted of in 2009 after spending four years in remand from 2005. Incidentally, he was represented by Festus Keyamo during the trial in 2005 till 2009

Keyamo in an interview with an Online Newspaper in December, 2018 claimed that the police did not appeal the Kano State High Court verdict at the time (2009) because they were satisfied that Mr Adeyanju was indeed not involved in the killing as the prosecutor alleged.
