The Vigilante Group of Nigeria in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has said their constant vigil around motor parks within the territory is yielding positive results in checking criminal activities.
The commander of the group in the FCT, Yabo Micha Maji, made the assertion during an interaction with Abuja Metro, shortly after a meeting with executive members of the commands from the six area council’s divisions ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The leader disclosed that a syndicate that specialised in stealing babies was nabbed recently, during such exercise, and handed over to the relevant security agency.
He charged travellers from the nation’s capital to desist from boarding vehicles along the roadside but from authorised motor parks.

The VGN commander thanked the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who he said had supported them, as well as directed the council chairmen in the territory to also so.
“There was a problem of banditry around some notable rural communities and even towns in the FCT, at the time when the minister came on board.
“But to God be the glory, following his tour, and the town hall meeting with stakeholders in all the area councils, where he charged the councils’ chairmen to empower our members, and also went ahead to support us with the operational motorcycles and vehicles. This was beyond our expectation, and we really appreciate his efforts,” he said.
