The Cheif of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, says without logistics support, operations of the force will fail.

He spoke in Lagos yesterday at the flag-off of the Nigerian Air Force Logistics Command’s simulation exercise code-named “Omo Oloja.”

He said: “The critical importance of air logistics support was amply demonstrated in 2017 when NAF contained the development of an ugly situation in Alagarno through supply of drinking water by helicopters to ground troops.

“From the foregoing, it is clear that the best planned operations could fail without logistics support and hence the need to exercise logistics command from time to time to determine the effectiveness of our Logistics support arrangements in support of NAF operations both within and outside the shores of Nigeria.”

Abubakar said Nigeria should strengthen her air power in order to effectively discharge her regional obligations in ensuring stability in the sub-region.

Speaking specifically on “Exercise Omo Oloja”, the Chief of Air Staff said the idea of exercising air logistics support this year was to build capacity for the optimal utilization of scarce air resources in operations.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Abayomi Olonisakin, who was the special guest of honour at the event, said logistics is clearly a major requirement for prosecuting any operation.
