An internet service provider, Spectranet Limited, has said its focus as an internet provider is to deepen broadband penetration in the country.
The managing director of Spectranet, David Venn, at a media chat in Lagos, said that with the new information communication technology trend of data telephony, many Nigerians would abandon the traditional airtime-based mode of making calls.
Venn said, “Nigerians will no longer pay for calls and Short Message Services (SMS), on mobile networks before the end of 2019. Leveraging on widespread availability of good internet services, the interest to make calls and enjoy life streaming with data bundle would have heavily increased."
The head of marketing, Spectranet Ltd, Mike Ogor, stated that Spectranet service is already being patronised and enjoyed in Nigeria.
He said: “Currently, Spectranet in fully available in Lagos, Abuja, and just a month ago, our rollout hit Port Harcourt. The development is still ongoing, and we shall continue to serve our customers better. Very soon, people in other cities in North and the West, such as Kano and Benin will also begin to use our services. But now, Ibadan is the next city.”
